Recycling Codes – Part 3: Batteries

Recycling codes for batteries are as follows:

#8 : Lead Acid Batteries (from automobiles)

#9: Alkaline Batteries (like Duracell and Eveready)

#10: Nickel-Cadmium Batteries, or NiCad (from electronics equipment, like telephones)

#11: Nickel-metal Hydride Batteries, or NiMH (see article from Wikipedia:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel%E2%80%93metal_hydride_battery)

#12: Lithium Batteries, or Li-ion (or LIB) (see article from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium-ion_battery)

#13:  Silver Oxide Batteries (like those used in hearing aids, watches or computer clocks:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_oxide_battery)

#14: Zinc-Carbon Batteries, or heavy duty batteries (These look like alkaline batteries:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinc-carbon_battery)
