Belleville Sassoon has developed many methods of adding trim to formal garments.
This series will discuss the easy technique for adding lacing to a formal gown.
In this example, the bride purchased the gown months before the wedding, then gained weight. Since she could not return it, we opted to add lacing to cover the 6 inch gap at the back.
The gown must have a center back seam. If it does not, you will have to create one by slitting the garment. A zipper placket is a perfect place to add lacing. If you have a zipper in the center back, remove it completely.
