How to Create a Center Back Placket (in a garment without a Center Back Seam) – Part 1

Yesterday, we found the center back of our garment.  How to Find the Center Front or Back of a Garment  This line must be marked on the inside of the garment and on the outside if it will help align the placket.

We need to create an appropriately sized facing for our new opening.  This is a standard sized Keyhole Placket Facing.  Our Sassoon lacing will need a much longer facing.

This is a more appropriately shaped facing.  Elongate the standard facing so that it is about 2 inches (5 cm) longer than the final opening for the lacing.

Cut the facing out, finish the raw edge, and pin it to the garment, right sides together, matching the neck edge and the center back of the garment
