Standard Hem Measurements – Part 4

Most hems are 1 1/4 inches deep, with a few exceptions.
Circular skirts or those hems with a lot of curve have a few options.
If the fabric is soft, it is usually hemmed 1/2 inches and topstitched at 3/8 inches with the hem side toward the feed dogs.  This allows the machine to ease the fabric together to meet the outer layer.
